Well, one thing leads to another. They suspected the bottle in the pendant of being used for a poisoning, but I ate it before they could examine it. Out of leads, the defense attorney had to think along different lines - and that brought her to the line of thinking that led to her to figure out what was actually used to poison the victim. And so the true culprit got caught! ...Of course, it's possible they could have figured that out even if I didn't eat it, but I just feel better thinking otherwise!
