It's going to start feeling very strange if you're not leaning on someone, holding their hand, cuddling with them, sitting in their lap, stealing a kiss, or engaging in some other form of affectionate physical contact. [ There he goes, flying through the air. Mid-yeet, however, there is a brief flash of golden light and a shower of sparks as Lucifer transforms into a bird. With a few flaps, he circles back around and comes to perch on her shoulder. ]

That’s quite the kick you got there!

[Oh, thank the goddess she didn't kill the devil by kicking him clean across the room. Manuela presses a hand to her hard-beating heart in relief.

As Lucifer comes to alight on her shoulder, she tucks into herself, bowing her head in contrition. She was just startled, promise! One finger comes up to scratch the short feathers at the nape of his birdie neck.]

[ Oh. He happily leans into those scritches with a pleased little trill, but he still gives her a bit of a concerned look. Manuela usually always has something to say. ]

What’s the matter? Cat got your tongue?

[Manuela slumps forward - exaggerated, but not quite enough to dislodge him - and nods. Communicating like this is taking so much energy... but maybe it will be better in the long run when getting to the bottom of things quickly.

She places her hand to her chest and mimes belting out a quick scale, then brings that same hand across her throat in a cutting gesture.

Manuela throws her open palm out - I know, right? - but after that initial indignation quells, she ultimately shrugs her one, non-Lucifer-hosting shoulder.

[The description of the explosive ducks definitely gets Manuela's attention. She laughs silently, but it's a sympathetic one. More of a "that's rough, buddy" than a "what a stupid sort of punishment" laugh. Riri really went out of its way for that one.
