WEEK FOUR MINGLE

ᯓ⭐ WEEK FOUR MINGLE

Heya, lovebirds! You're entering the final week and things sure are... great.

Right?

Well, whether you're feeling great or not, you're going to find yourself looking your best in formal wear this week! Suits, gorgeous dresses, fabulously outlandish outfits, you name it, you're stuck in it. No sweatpants or lab coats for anyone this week. We have standards.

And we also believe in telling the truth, one way or another!

That's right, if you're asked a question, any question at all, no matter how innocent or dire, you are compelled to speak your most truthful answer. It could be who you think is the hottest in the castle. It could be your opinion on orange juice. Whatever it is, there is no longer a brain-to-mouth filter in place!

And maybe you'll figure that out and all decide to be merciful, but Riri will be popping up every now and then. And Riri? Riri will not be merciful.

Except for one thing, and that's a note in the main room that states simply: You all suck at this, so this week, our good ol' lesbian duo can now speak normally. You're welcome. ♥

In that case, it would confirm there's no rhyme or reason to certain pairs. That only makes it more difficult for us.

[After all, how is Mitrha even remotely compatible to him? Brenner doesn't think he is at all.]

I agree with you, though. I'd rather go with our 50-50 chance, because either way, we get a confirmation which we direly need.
aureated: (i can beat you at anything)

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-08 05:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[she's no so sure there isn't any reason for the two of them to be paired, honestly... but she'll keep that to herself for now.]

Indeed. Between the hint we were given earlier, the blackout week, and that confirmation... we should have enough information to make an educated guess, at the very least.

It is unfortunate that some aspects will come down to a guess, but I suppose that is what keeps the audience engaged.

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 05:27 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yeah, well, that probably requires a certain level of self-awareness that Brenner does not possess nor anyone has wrenched free from him, so. You know. This is where we stand.]

Because audiences like to see a trainwreck in real-time.

[ :') they're doing so badly it's truly disappointing.]
aureated: (forty cents)

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-08 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[She presses a hand to her forehead, sighing.]

It truly is so irritating that it has come to this.

It's about what's expected at this point, I suppose.

[Because people are stupid and this whole game is stupid and he's ready to be done with it at this point.]

If I'm to be honest, between the two Riri picks, I don't care which we send to the booth. The end result is the same [they get a verification] and we can go from there. The real challenge is sorting the remaining pairs.

A lot of the logic I'm here is hinging on myself and Mitrha being a true pair, as well. Let's just hope this doesn't trip us up later down the line.

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-08 07:06 pm (UTC)(link)
We've no choice at this point. If we had more time, we could make other assumptions.

As it is, if we take that assumption away, we will basically be picking at random again.
hnl: (018)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:12 pm (UTC)(link)
[Well, if it proves true THEN SOMEONE BETTER THANK HIM FOR SAVING THEM FROM BLACKOUT 2.0 (no one will thank you, Brenner)

... ]

Fine. I don't like leaving anything to chance, given what we could all lose, but in lieu of there being no other way to verify a second pair right now... We'll operate on that assumption.
aureated: (sooner or later)

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-08 07:34 pm (UTC)(link)
[don't even talk to her about how much it chafes to leave things to chance, SHE'S TRYING TO BE CIVIL HERE BUT THINGS WENT SO WRONG]

... Indeed.
hnl: (005)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[THEY SHARE THAT AT LEAST and Brenner arches a brow.]

Something else on your mind?
aureated: (i can live on bread and cheese)

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-08 07:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Oh, we've simply gone about this all wrong. This isn't the fault of any one person here, but it seems we are all a little too cagey and wary for such things, doesn't it?

[They all tried so hard not to tip their hands or open their hearts until it was already too late.]

Well. Not that I am giving up. We will fight to the end, and find a way to win this outrageous game.
hnl: (018)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:51 pm (UTC)(link)
Not everyone wears their heart on their sleeve. [Brenner included, falling somewhere in-between.] In fact, it makes more sense not to in normal circumstances... Unfortunately, these are not normal circumstances, and we're learning this far too late into the game.

[It rankles him, really, to be. Bad at something. But they're definitely all bad at this, he can't deny that.]

If we don't win, no one is getting what they've lost back. No one's going to abide by that.
aureated: (i can do anything better than you)

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-09 03:48 pm (UTC)(link)
Then we fight to get it all back.

[Simply, calmly.]

Right now we are fighting on this front. If this fails, we will have to wage a battle on a more traditional front.
hnl: (003)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-09 04:49 pm (UTC)(link)
[That escalated quickly.

Not that Brenner. Disagrees. But what a headache that might be -- just punishment for their failure, in the end.]

Going to actual battle to reclaim what's ours. The logistics sound messy.

[personal profile] ozzz 2024-04-08 05:40 pm (UTC)(link)
[After much grousing from his end, Mithra is present.]

It makes sense to me, though.

[Perhaps Brenner is simply not very bright (no).]
hnl: (007)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 05:53 pm (UTC)(link)
[Brenner is smart to the point where it wears the player out, but also very ignorant about certain parts of his own personality, so. Mithra might be onto something!!]

Because we're opposites?

[If that's still his logic? If not, then enlighten him, sir.]
ozzz: (58)

[personal profile] ozzz 2024-04-08 06:17 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes.

[At the heart of their supposed match, that's what he believes.]

You want everything to be under your control. I find it difficult to believe that someone like you would accept a decision made by somebody else on your behalf. In other words, the match determined by this show has no meaning for you.

[He folds his arms.]

It's the same for me; however, unlike you, I don't need another's strength in order to survive, nor do I care what others do.
aureated: (oh no you're the minor one)

[personal profile] aureated 2024-04-08 06:22 pm (UTC)(link)
[well, there u have it]
hnl: (016)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:03 pm (UTC)(link)
[lol what... Well. He can accept some of that.]

I don't need everything to be under my control, though I do prefer being at the helm so nothing devolves into a mess like it has now.

[True opinions brought on by the truth effect, though perhaps he would have said something similar, anyway.]

I'm surprised, though, that via seeing one memory, you've managed to make this sweeping generalization about me.
ozzz: (34)

[personal profile] ozzz 2024-04-08 07:09 pm (UTC)(link)
[As the inferred passenger, that sounds controlling to him.]

It's more than the memory. You've been like this from the start.
hnl: (020)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:15 pm (UTC)(link)
According to who? You? You've been critical of my methods from the very start, as well. I've been open to discussion this entire time.
ozzz: (46)

[personal profile] ozzz 2024-04-08 07:18 pm (UTC)(link)
Yes. [He and him.] Is that not what we're doing? I don't understand why you're being so irritable. All I'm doing is proving that we're opposites.
hnl: (026)

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:24 pm (UTC)(link)
[Made for each other...]

Well. Forgive me for taking issue with the fact that your logic hinges on a perceived character fault.
ozzz: (39)

[personal profile] ozzz 2024-04-08 07:29 pm (UTC)(link)
[Rest in pieces . . . ]

You were the one who picked me first.

[If Brenner sees the argument as a character attack, that's his problem.]

[personal profile] hnl 2024-04-08 07:35 pm (UTC)(link)
[Yes, but don't you know that he's the one allowed to throw shade, not the other way around?

...Except he has no argument for that.]

I'm not saying we aren't a pair. You're just both inscrutable and frustrating in the most tiring way possible, Mithra.
ozzz: (01)

[personal profile] ozzz 2024-04-08 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)
[Don't talk to him about tiredness.

He reaches up to tug on his collar.
]

. . . And you're an unpleasant man.
