WEEK FOUR MINGLE
ᯓ⭐ WEEK FOUR MINGLE
Heya, lovebirds! You're entering the final week and things sure are... great.
Right?
Well, whether you're feeling great or not, you're going to find yourself looking your best in formal wear this week! Suits, gorgeous dresses, fabulously outlandish outfits, you name it, you're stuck in it. No sweatpants or lab coats for anyone this week. We have standards.
And we also believe in telling the truth, one way or another!
That's right, if you're asked a question, any question at all, no matter how innocent or dire, you are compelled to speak your most truthful answer. It could be who you think is the hottest in the castle. It could be your opinion on orange juice. Whatever it is, there is no longer a brain-to-mouth filter in place!
And maybe you'll figure that out and all decide to be merciful, but Riri will be popping up every now and then. And Riri? Riri will not be merciful.
Except for one thing, and that's a note in the main room that states simply: You all suck at this, so this week, our good ol' lesbian duo can now speak normally. You're welcome. ♥

Because while we are both Geo users I think that is a poor metric to go by. We have little going for us otherwise. She being law enforcement and I a funeral parlor consultant as careers go. We are both stern when it comes to contracts and obeying the law but that is tangentially related and a pull at best. She is also a mortal woman and I am six thousand years old... Which would go against the very grain of what I was intending to find. [Continuing and continuing quickly.] If we make the assumptions of Mithra and Mister Brenner and Mister Wright and Miss Xianyun that would leave me with Oz who... well. It's a better match, I think in terms of a base level of what is being sought.
[Just keep talking, Zhongli.]
We have to make assumptions, regardless. That's the point we're left at. We're already assuming one of the pairs of Mister Brenner and Mithra. If we assume Miss Manuela and Mister Uroko as well then it leaves Lucifer with only two options. Miss Lin or Miss Ori. If we send in Lucifer with Miss Ori it confirms a pair. Leaving Miss Lin with Mister Maruki and everything is squared away and the remaining pair on the ground which should be Miss Manuela and Mister Uroko. And if that pairing is wrong then it's Miss Ori with Mister Maruki and Lucifer and Lin being the final pair.
And with that... There are no concerns of Riri's trickery.

I'm very willing to accept that you and Lin are not a match.
However, you've forgotten Manuela in your final considerations. If Lucifer and Orphi are confirmed to not be a match, then Lucifer and Manuela is still possible--leaving us with Maruki and Uroko, and Lin and Oriphi.
[So they're left with a complex 33% situation--which is kind of where they're already at anyway.]
Not to say you're wrong. Your logic is quite sound. Simply that it is more complex than you've laid it out to be.
[...]
I must say, though, this candidness from you is very refreshing. Your situation with Oz makes complete sense. We should have considered such things as immortality ages ago.

[He clenches his tea cup tightly.]
It is a small thing but a thing nonetheless.
no subject
It is not a small thing. It is something that I would imagine matters quite a lot to those with long lifespans.
There's no need to downplay it. Your preferences are worth taking into account, despite how irritating this game may be.
[They might not matter at all, but they should.]
no subject
I would like to believe they'd been at least acknowledged in some way.
no subject
As you've said, we are making endless assumptions already. I will move forward assuming Lin is not your match, given your need for someone long-lived.

[ the previous sage...? it's one of the few times he's said goodbye, somewhat, and he can't recall their name or their face. ]
I will not ask more. [ because... because, ] I only aimed to acknowledge what you've observed.

More so with what Mister Uroko has said... We have not had the opportunity to speak in any great length.

[ however little of it there is. he considers something for a beat, looking at the glass of wine within his hand with a furrowed brow before continuing on, steadfast: ]
... So that may happen, if you wish it so.
[ regardless of how unflinchingly chatty they are, oz won't shy away from it. whether it be here, at this moment, or later on. ]

But... I did originally come here thinking that a friend or two would be gained. Stories told and shared and offered. If this perfect match is destined to offer a potential long lived friend then I would be most glad.

he doesn't hear language like that from someone zhongli's age, and he really has to wonder why those who are his age speak like the children from back home.....
it's not a negative thing. it's just such a complicated emotion, to hear the opposite of the sentiment he expects from those he considers at least a little more similar superficially. why does it make him feel more ancient...? ]
You do not have to worry about my interfering with those matters.
[ the heart. he didn't come here for that, nor does he expect such a thing from zhongli. that's- yeah. ]
... I also do not know if I can provide suitable [ ... awkwardly: ] friendship. Why is that something you seek?
[ no commentary on zhongli's character or his interest. oz has simply been alone for almost all of his life, so to say he could provide something like suitable companionship is....... funny, really. ]

...Though one of them finds it easier to speak than the other, obviously. Zhongli's speech had caught her attention right away the very first day they were here, after all.]
For better or for worse, you might find you have a lot to discuss.

[ the gentle and quiet way oz says her name is his acknowledgement of her words. he can't see the latter, for many reasons, but it seems he can't see many things; it is a shortcoming on his end more than anything, though one oz can't quite process as a flaw. ]
... Perhaps. A lot may be too much.
[ well, maybe it's oz's "a lot" and not zhongli's "a lot". either way, it's more of a dig at himself. ]

[ SIX THOUSAND YEARS OLD???????????????? Someone's cranky, and open about saying it now, not that she ever held back before. ]
If you had such a preference for how old you were hoping your match to be, you should have said that weeks ago, since you're so convinced of its importance now.
no subject
It is still mostly irrelevant. [And he's clutching the cup a little too tightly.] And I have every reason in the world for wishing for that to remain private.
[That it came out at all is a problem all on its own and he needs to speak so very carefully.]
The reasons, aside from that, are quite viable and should hold merit. I said, at the beginning, that I would not allow my secrets to become an issue and they will not be.

[ She's not even personally offended at him not seeing her as a potential match, she's angry at the logic behind it. Anyway, his loud saucer clink doesn't bother or intimidate her in the least, and she stands her ground, like a boulder would. ]
Did you ever consider the other side of the situation? That that information is something someone would be entitled to know about you in order to determine if they're compatible with you? Did you ever once feel the urgency of the four weeks we had to solve this puzzle? I guess that's asking a lot of someone thousands of years old.
[ 😭 THAT TRUTH SERUM REALLY POPPING OFF!! She splays a hand out to him confidently. ]
I want to hear why you're convinced you're matched with Oz, then, based on ample more evidence. Go ahead.
no subject
And I still consider that to be the truth. This small piece of information would not change the fact that we are in the situation that we are in. That we have consistently picked the wrong booths and the wrong people since the first truth booth that actually went right.
[The tea cup cracks in his hand, not quite broken but...]
I have no strong opinions on Oz in the least. But if it is Miss Xianyun and Mister Wright then Oz is the only one that could be paired with myself. That's the math of it and nothing more.
no subject
[ She slams her fist on the table, getting more pissed off by the way he seems so calm, despite the tea cup cracking in his hand. The silverware rattles with the movement. She almost wishes he'd yell back, or at least show some level of investment in the argument — because this game is life or death for her. Or, it feels that way. ]
People have lost things, people — I'd consider being matched with anyone to get those things back, no matter how I personally felt about it!
[ So if a possibility exists, she's going to entertain it. Even now, she doesn't think it's impossible that they're matched. ]
I don't care whether we're matched or not, and maybe you can look at this all so neutrally — just being "math" and what not. [ AIR QUOTES ] But if we'd known this from the start, we could've thought about how the game might manipulate that wish against you. How do you know they won't match you with a mortal to spite you? You don't.

Rex Lapis, by that logic should we not also consider that one is also millennia old? Phoenix is but a mortal man.
